Lady cop arrested for ‘stealing’ P600 inside WCPD office

A newly assigned patrolwoman at the Talomo Police Station was cuffed after she was captured on video stealing money from an officer’s wallet inside the Women and Children’s Protection Desk (WCPD) office on Tuesday evening.

Brig Gen. Marcelo Morales, the Police Regional Office XI, director identified the suspect as Patrolwoman Rosa Lyn Sosas Molles, a WCPD personnel, who allegedly took the P100 bill from the wallet of Patrolwoman Girly Ann B. Lahay Lahay.

The incident occurred around 7:20 p.m. as Lahay Lahay, a non-commisioned officer for the Police Community Relations of the said station, discovered her wallet, which contained P1,500, was missing P100.

Maj. Ronald L. Lao, chief of the Talomo Police Station, ordered an entrapment operation after noting previous thievery incidents inside the WCPD office. They set up a smart phone in the office.

Around 12:20 p.m. of the same day, Staff Sgt. Lucy Guy-ab, WCPD personnel, also found out that the P500 in her wallet was missing. Upon review of the smartphone video, Molles could be seen taking the money from the wallet of Guy-ab.

It also resulted in the recovery of the stolen P100, which the suspect hurriedly hid inside the couch when she was accosted by the police.

Meanwhile, Morales expressed his disappointment over the incident.

“I am dismayed by this incident involving a police officer into theft and victimizing fellow police officers,” he said. “It’s embarassing.”

“Rest assured that she will suffer the consequences of her chosen path. She will go through what other civilian people go through when they are caught stealing,” he added.

The suspect will face dismissal from service, along with jail time.

“We never tolerate anyone of our colleagues for committing illegal acts or crimes. We will be very serious to sanction this erring policewoman to make sure these things won’t happen again,” he added.

It can be recalled that on April 30, 2019, Corporal John Francis Llego Casicnan, 27, single and assigned at the Provincial Mobile Force in Davao Oriental was arrested inside the Regional Training Center XI after he was caught stealing money from the trainee’s barracks.
