A 22-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with the murder of a 30-year-old partner who was found dead in their shared residence in Goldland Subdivision, Bago Aplaya, on Sunday evening.
The suspect, identified only as “Arbie,” was apprehended in Malalag, Davao del Sur, just hours after the body of Kent Lubaton was discovered with fatal head injuries inflicted by a hammer.
DCPO spokesperson Captain Hazel Tuazon confirmed that charges were filed against Arbie on Monday, July 15, at the City Prosecutor’s Office.
A witness reported that the couple had been drinking together on Saturday night, but Arbie left abruptly the following morning. While there was no disturbance during the drinking session, the witness mentioned a prior argument between the couple on Friday morning that turned physical.
During questioning, Arbie confessed to the crime, citing jealousy as the motive for the brutal attack.
“We hope that swift legal action will bring justice to the victim’s family,” Captain Tuazon said. “This is a tragic reminder of the devastating consequences of domestic violence,” she added.
