Issue hashed out? Baste says he already talked to Senator Bong Go

MAYOR Sebastian Duterte confirmed that he already talked to Senator Christopher Lawrence ‘Bong’ Go after the former’s fiery speech at the Hakbang ng Maisug rally in Pampanga on Monday, June 17.

It can be recalled that the mayor criticized Go’s continued silence even after the series of significant events happening in Davao City.

“It’s just politics. There’s no need to take it personally. If you can’t handle it, then quit. That’s the life of a politician,” the mayor said in an interview with the media during the opening of Duaw Davao on Friday, June 21.

“I have no problem with him. I believe it was a fair comment,” the mayor stated.

Recently, Duterte singled out Go for remaining silent amid the issues affecting Davaoeños. However, the Davaoeño senator did not issue a public statement to comment on Duterte’s accusations.

When asked if Senator Bong Go has abandoned his father, the mayor said “Could be possible, you know politics. you can never guess what will happen next in politics.”

“Bong is a Davaoeño or so he claims di ba?  I voted for him, so this isn’t just about him yung sinasabi ko, not the former chief of staff of the President. I’m talking to him as a voter,” the Mayor further said.

Bong Go is a known political ally who made a name for himself as a close aide and friend of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

The Dutertes seemingly are in the crosshairs of the Marcos administration beginning with Vice Mayor Sara Duterte who bludgeoned and sued for the controversial P11-B confidential fund. Congressman Paolo Duterte also blasted the administration for slashing Davao City’s budget by P2 billion, leaving his district only with P500 million.

Meanwhile, former President Duterte’s friend and spiritual leader, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, is currently in hiding to avoid the arrest warrants against him.
