Inaugural classes

City-funded college to start operations with 320 students on Aug. 7

 

THE CITY College of Davao is preparing for the inaugural classes of its first batch of 320 students on Monday next week, Aug. 7.

Dr. Wenefredo Cagape, the president and school officer-in-charge during the interview with TIMES, said, “In place na ang classrooms, atong teachers na hire na tanan, non-teaching naa na pud,” Cagape said. 

Of 794 applicants, 320 students were enrolled based on the cap approved by the board of directors. “The board decided (on the number) because of limited classrooms… we have 11 classrooms,” he explained.

However, Cagape said students who failed to make the cut will be prioritized for the next evaluation period. He said 43% of their students are IPs.

The campus is temporarily located at Km. 10, Barangay Catalunan Pequeño, Tugbok District, Davao City.

The CCD offers the following courses: Bachelor of Early Childhood Education, Bachelor of Technical Vocational Teacher Education major in Heating, Ventilation, Airconditioning and Refrigeration Technology, Bachelor of Technical Vocational Teacher Education major in Computer Programming and Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship. 

The city government allotted more or less P60 million for the salaries and wages of personnel and the school’s MOOE.
