DNA results in Predas-Chavez slayings out soon: DCPO

THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) expects the DNA test results from the Forensic Unit Team to be released this month.

In an interview on Tuesday, DCPO spokesperson Captain Hazel Tuazon said they hope the test results could help identify the killers of Jeffry Predas and Jennifer Chavez,

Tuazon said that if the DNA results link the two persons of interest (POI) to the crime scene, they will face charges of double murder.

The police investigation is ongoing, focusing on crime of passion and personal grudge as possible motives.

“The case will not be submitted to the Special Investigation Task Group (SITG),” clarified Tuazon. “However, the DCPO is facilitating a peace conference involving the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), the Forensic Unit Team, and other stakeholders to expedite the investigation.”

Predas and Chavez were found dead at separate locations within a condo building in Bajada, Davao City, on April 21, 2024. Both bodies sustained stab wounds.
