THE IDENTITY of the perpetrators behind the pyrotechnic display on New Year’s Eve remained elusive after a video of the incident went viral on Facebook.

However, Davao City Police Office spokesperson Captain Hazel Tuazon said investigators are already tracking down the people behind the fireworks, which violated City Ordinance No. 060-02 and Republic Act No. 7183.

“So far, padayon gihapon sila sa pag-conduct ug investigation. Naningkamot gihapon ang atoang Police Station 3 para ma identify kining individual or mga individuals nga nag-fireworks diha sa may area sa Bangkal (So far, their investigation continues. She said the investigators gathered statements from kids in the area.

“However, we are still deepening our investigation to really pin down the persons behind the lighted fireworks in Bangkal (Pero atoa pa’ng ginapalawoman ang atoang investigation para ma-ila gyud nato kung kinsa to’ng nag-firework diha sa Bangkal,” she added.

A follow-up investigation revealed that the fireworks display was lighted at Block 4, Lot 25, Phase 1, NHA Bangkal, near the residence of alias Boss Kadjo.

A dark spot on the road marked the precise location but no trace of the pyrotechnics could be found on site. Interviews with young witnesses also suggested that the fireworks were ignited near a river dike.
