- Bystander helps candle vendor apprehend robber in Calinan
AN ALLEGED snatcher was arrested when a bystander intervened as the suspect was wrestling with a candle vendor for her expensive necklace outside the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Datu Abing Street, Calinan District, around 9:40 a.m. on Nov. 14.
According to the report, alias Jimson, 32, married, and a resident of Purok 10, Barangay Los Amigos, Tugbok District, pretended to buy a candle from the 61-year-old victim before suddenly grabbing her necklace.
However, the victim managed to grab hold of the suspect’s arm and they wrestled for a bit. A bystander then jumped in to subdue Jimson.
Responding police officers, led by Patrolman Dante III Comendador, apprehended the suspect and recovered the stolen Thailand Gold Necklace, valued at P80,000, and a black Honda 125 XRM motorcycle registered to the suspect’s name.
