- Police arrest one suspect, recover jewelry in daylight pawnshop robbery
A DARING robbery at Hannah Pawnshop’s Ilustre Branch was thwarted, resulting in the arrest of one suspect and the recovery of a significant amount of stolen jewelry on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2025.
Meanwhile, Atty. Miguel Palma Gil, representing Hannah Pawnshop, estimated the recovered jewelry to be worth between P40-100 million, based on the report of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO).
According to the initial DCPO report, three individuals trained their guns on the pawnshop staff and ordered them to hand over the valuables at approximately 9:55 a.m. The suspects fled toward Bankerohan Public Market.
Responding swiftly, the San Pedro Police Station personnel led by Captain Narciso N. Potot Jr., under the supervision of Major Emmanuel D. Manlatican, conducted a hot-pursuit operation.
They managed to arrest one suspect, alias Johnny of Albuera, Leyte.
He was arrested while fleeing on foot in Bankerohan, Barangay 5-A. Police launched a manhunt on the two others who evaded the pursuing officers.
Authorities also recovered an M16 rifle with live ammunition, a 9mm Trooper pistol, a black Honda TMX 125 motorcycle with temporary plate number 1501-303378, and the bag containing assorted jewelry.
The police manhunt against the remaining suspect continues.
