Guard kills delivery driver during heated altercation

A SECURITY guard was arrested when he shot to death a delivery rider during an altercation along Pag-asa Extention, Matina Aplaya, around 1:30 p.m. on July 1.

Captain Hazel Tuazon, the spokesperson of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), identified the suspect as Haron Lumanggal Pagagongan, married, 48, and a resident of Purok 26, Barangay 76-A.

Meanwhile, the victim was Policronio Gonzaga Palmera, married, 47, and a resident of Pag-asa Extension. 

According to Talomo police investigators, the suspect was on duty when he claimed the victim confronted him on how he checked parcels and residents’ belongings. 

The confrontation immediately escalated into a shouting match. Suddenly, the suspect fired his shotgun at the victim, who died on the scene.

Scene of the Crime Operatives recovered the shotgun cartridge and the firearm used in the crime. 

The Traffic Enforcement Unit turned over the suspect to the Talomo Police Station for custody and the filing of appropriate criminal charges.
