Group pushes esports to boost Davao City tourism 

THE DAVAO Esports Enthusiast Association will conduct a Mindanao-wide electronic sports tournament on March 16 in time for Araw ng Dabaw at Abreeza Ayala Malls. 

In a radio interview, association founder Krizzy Daugdaug said the event will promote youth development and boost the city’s tourism economy. 

“This will bring a great impact not only on the economic side but even in esports tourism as these participants would likely to avail on our hotels and other accommodation facilities here in Davao,” Daugdaug said. 

Daugdaug said the tournament will be participated by over 500-600 esports athletes from Surigao, Mati, Zamboanga, Tagum, and Davao City, with 64 teams (5-7 individuals on each team) competing for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (ML:BB), 21 teams for Call of Duty Mobile (CODM), and 40 individuals registered to compete for Tekken 8. 

She also highlighted that one of the esteemed guests for the tournament is ML:BB Professional League caster Chantelle Hernandez. She also urged esports athletes to properly follow security protocols in the venue to ensure peace and order during the tournament. 

The winning esports team will also win a prize pool of P60,000 for ML:BB, P30,000 for CODM (20,000 for COD points), and P4,000 for Tekken 8. 

The Davao City Sports Development Division also supports the one-day league esports tournament.
