Panabo City – The pre-season rulers and title favorites lock horns as the KD Green Lions and the CMO Mandirigma face-off in the resumption of the Relampagos Basketball League (RBL) Board Members Cup at the Brgy. Salvacion Gym.
Both teams are unbeaten after two games with the winner of this mammoth match up will top Group A and a twice to beat advantage in the crossover quarterfinals.
The Green Lions walloped the Tagausig 83-72 on opening day and then dominated the Faith Defenders 74-60 to arrive at their 2-0 win-loss slate. Mandirigma, on the other hand, stamped their class against Faith Defenders 99-84 before routing Tagausig 114-87.
The superb play making of Arnel “Japs” Sabio and the consistent scoring of ace point forward Tirso Lesmoras have been propelling the Green Lions to near unbeatable status so far. They would have their first real test against the equally dangerous Mandirigma team owned by Bongbor Relampagos which will count on the troika of mainman Arbe Arcena, slotman Ramon Fuentes and towering forward Gerald Capuyan.
In the first game, the HOJ Justice Leaguers collide with the PDEA Drugbusters in a battle for better placing going to the quarterfinals.
The RBL Board Member’s Cup was founded by Davao Del Norte Board Member Atty. Janris Jay “Jigs” Relampagos and PAO Panabo District Head Atty. Arvin Escandor Laguindam with Jek Melendres as Commissioner, John Michael Demain as Technical Committee Head, and Jun Dionglay as event and graphic designer, in coordination with the City Mayor’s Office of Panabo City.
