GRASSROOTS CAMPAIGN | Vaccination team to go down the barangays to boost jab rates

THE CITY Vaccination Cluster will roll out another Bayanihan Bakunahan starting March 29 to 31, and this time the vaccination drive will include the grassroots level, as well as at the identified vaccination hubs.

Speaking over the Davao City Disaster Radio on Monday, City Vaccination Cluster head Dr. Josephine Villafuerte said the city will adopt the per barangay strategy to increase the vaccination rate.

Ang strategy nga gihimo ani ron, is mag-barangay talaga hindi lang basta sites kasi bababa na sila sa barangay lalo na dito sa barangay nga ubos ang mga coverage (The strategy now will be done per barangay not only to the sites but they will go to the barangay, especially those with low coverage),” Villafuerte said.

Villafuerte added that the cluster has a list of barangays with low vaccination coverage.

“So far, sa Davao City may mga 50 plus percent pa na medyo mababa sa 70 percent ang kanilang coverage, pero the big barangays dagko-dagko na ang coverage naabot na sila og 80 above (So far in Davao City we have at least 50 percent of the total barangays with lower than 70 percent coverage. In big barangays there is already a huge coverage – reaching 80 or more),” Villafuerte said.

She said that the vaccination drive may be implemented beyond March 31 or up to the weekend in some areas to allow the vaccination teams to travel to the barangays and prepare the area in coordination with the barangay captains.

Mag-set up pa sila didto and naa pud mag house-to-house (They will set up in the area and also do house-to-house vaccination),” she added. Villafuerte said that administering the booster doses is the main priority.

“Hopefully, once ma-immunize ang tanan the more na maglisud ang virus na mag-mutate (Hopefully, once everybody are immunized it will be difficult for the virus to mutate),” Villafuerte said.

As of March 26, Davao City has administered a total of 1,319,733 for the first dose; 1,292,684 for the second dose; and, 229,588 already received the booster dose.

Villafuerte encouraged Davaoeños to be vaccinated and get vaccination cards because it may be required in some areas or establishments.
