Gov’t employee nabbed in drug buy-bust in Mati

A 37-YEAR-OLD government employee was arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted at Purok Don Jose, Barangay Dahican, Mati City, Davao Oriental on April 26 at 5:45 p.m.

Aileen Lovitos, director of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) XI, said that the target of the operation was Krist Mark Maglines, single, and a resident of Barangay Central, Mati City.

According to Lovitos, Maglines was arrested for selling a sachet of suspected shabu worth P1,000 to a PDEA agent who acted as the buyer.

During the operation, two sachets with suspected shabu weighing more or less three grams with a street value of P45,000, six transparent plastic sachets with suspected shabu residue, drug paraphernalia, buy-bust marked money and the motorcycle he used in his illegal drug transaction were also seized by the operatives.

She said Maglines will be charged with violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), and Section 12 (Possession of Drug Paraphernalia), Article II of Republic Act 9165 or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

“If Maglines is found guilty of such an act, the maximum penalty shall be imposed, in addition to absolute perpetual disqualification from any public office as stated in Article II, Section 28 (Criminal Liability of Government Officials and Employees) of Republic Act 9165,” she added.
