The church-based election watchdog Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) noted several glitches in yesterday’s elections day.
This included the malfunctioning voter registration verification machines (VRVMs) that caused delay for residents to cast their votes
“There were delays because of the technical errors on the machines,” said Davao Association of Catholic Schools president Fr. Tomas Avila Jr.
The VRVMs are piloted in some areas in the country, including Davao City and Davao Del Sur in the region.
In Magallanes Elementary School, only one of the seven VRVMs operated, hence, the electoral boards opted for manual verification to ease the delay.
The same was noted at Wines Elementary School in Baguio District as well as in Communal Elementary School in Buhangin District.
The DACS also noted several personnel giving sample ballots or leaflets, particularly at Porras Elementary School in Agdao District and at the University of Southeastern Philippines in Obrero.
In San Roque Elementary School, some unauthorized personnel put up assistance desks. Only the PPCRV was accredited as the election watchdog by Comelec.
More than 1,000 volunteers from PPCRV were spread out in the city to monitor the election.
