THE GUIDE Union for Inbound Destination Ecotourism (GUIDE) Davao will conduct a free heritage walk on March 15-16 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. to help Davaoeños and other tourists re-learn local history
The activity is the group’s contribution to the city’s celebration of the 87th Araw ng Dabaw.
In an online interview, Milber Cantiberos, GUIDE Davao president, said the free tour is a unique opportunity “to dive deep into Davao’s past, when and how it originated.”
“About 50 people already said they are attending the tour, and we are still welcoming interested groups but only a limited number of them, and certain individuals who are interested to attend,” Cantiberos said.
Cantiberos said every group is limited to maximize interaction between tour guides and guests.
In a previous story, the sites included in the Davao Heritage Walk will be the Osmena Park, which is adjacent to the site of Davao’s early settlement; the historic 176-year-old San Pedro Cathedral (which has gone through reconstruction over the years); the Commemorative Monument for Peace and Unity, unveiled during the country’s centennial celebration; City Hall, originally built in 1926, when Davao was the political center of the then undivided Davao Province; among others.

Guide Davao also conducted a free two-day heritage tour in last year’s Kadayawan Festival, attended by local and foreign tourists, students, filmmakers, and tourism stakeholders.
