A 15-YEAR-OLD cyclist died on the spot after he crashed at Hilltop in Barangay Langub around 7:20 a.m. on Friday, March 1.
Captain Hazel Tuazon, the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesperson, only identified him as alias John, a student and resident of Lakandula Street, Jerome Extension, R. Castillo, Agdao District.
Investigation showed that before the incident, the cyclist was navigating the ascending portion of the Hilltop road when the shoelaces of his right shoe were ensnared in the bike’s pedal, causing him to lose control.
The victim fell on his head and lost consciousness. Medical responders of Barangay Langub arrived in the area and noticed that he wasn’t responding to CPR. They rushed him to the Southern Philippines Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician around 9 a.m.
