FOUR ARMED suspects were killed in an alleged shootout with the police in three different operations on Thursday night and early dawn Friday.
Captain Hazel Tuazon, the spokesperson of the Davao City Police Office, said the latest operation conducted was in Purok 8-A, Tibungco, around 2:25 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 10.
Police described the driver as around 20-25 years old, medium built, 5’3” to 5’7” tall, wearing a yellow t-shirt, and maong short pants.
The back rider, on the other hand, was wearing a red sleeveless shirt, and shorts with a blue-white color combination. He was described as having the same age, height, and build as the killed driver.
She said the station received a call from a concerned citizen regarding two suspicious-looking men carrying guns while riding a motorbike.
Police intercepted and were about to arrest the two men when the latter opened fire at the officers, who fired back.
The suspects were immediately brought to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) but were pronounced dead at 3:11 a.m. on the said day.
The Scene of the Crime Operatives recovered two .38 revolvers with no serial numbers and three live ammunition, three fired cartridge cases, and six from a 9mm caliber pistol.
Also, police recovered the black Honda motorcycle without plate used by the men.
Meanwhile, another alleged armed suspect was killed in an operation by elements of the Sta. Ana police in Isla Verde, Purok 4-B, Badiawan, Barangay 23-C, around 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 10.
Police identified him as Junard Cuamag.
According to the report, Intelligence personnel of Sta. Ana Police Station responded to a call about an armed man roaming around the place.
The police found and tried to talk to the suspect when he allegedly drew his gun and shot the arresting officers. Tuazon said the operatives had no choice but to retaliate.
The suspect sustained gunshot wounds in different parts of his body and was immediately transported to SPMC but was already dead before he arrived.
Moreover, a station-level target was killed in a buy-bust operation conducted by the Buhangin police in Purok 8, Ponte Verde Subdivision, Phase 2, Barangay Communal, around 10:20 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9.
Tuazon identified him as Davies Tumabang, who was included in the top 10 list of city-level drug targets.
According to the report, the suspect sold a sachet of shabu to a police poseur-buyer. He allegedly shot the officer when he sensed that he was about to be arrested.
The suspect was wounded by the operatives and died before he could get medical attention.
The SOCO team recovered a .38 revolver from the scene, three fired cartridges, and a 9mm pistol. They also seized three sachets of shabu and a sachet of dried marijuana leaves worth P37,000 and P5,000, respectively.
