FORMER President Rodrigo Duterte has reportedly accepted the House Representatives’ invitation to attend a hearing conducted by the House quad committee on extrajudicial killings during the war on drugs.
In a follow-up letter signed by House committee on dangerous drugs chairperson Rep. Robert Ace Barbers, the former President was formally invited to attend the hearing on Nov. 13, 2024.
Duterte’s camp has confirmed that the former President is ready to face Congress and attend the hearing.
It can be recalled that lawmakers expressed their disappointment when Duterte failed to attend a previous hearing on extrajudicial killings during his administration.
However, the House quad comm has decided to postpone its investigation into the War on Drugs under the Duterte administration.
This comes after former President Rodrigo Duterte expressed his willingness to personally answer questions from lawmakers during the hearing.
Instead of Nov. 13, the investigation has been rescheduled to Nov. 21.
The quad comm has sent a letter to apologize to the former President.
Meanwhile, it was reported that the former President and his staff were already in Metro Manila when the House decided to postpone the hearing.
