- Navy intercepts P2-M in cigarettes; Indons brought to Sasa Police Station
THE NAVAL Forces Eastern Mindanao arrested three Indonesians who allegedly tried to sneak in cigarettes in Balut Island, Sarangani, Davao Occidental, on Monday evening.
NFEM spokesperson Lt Commander Jerome Bryan Mauring said BRP Artemio Ricarte PS37, under the operational control of Naval Task Force 71, intercepted the motorized banca carrying 50 cartons of smuggled cigarettes.
The contraband and the three Indonesians on board were turned over to the Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao on Tuesday morning.
Commander Ronald Paras, Naval Task Force Group 71, said the three foreigners will face smuggling charges, one of them identified as Joel Rakinaung Dalisang who showed his ID.
Accordingly, the three arrested did not present documents for their cargo, as well as their presence in Philippine territory.
The three suspects would be turned over to the Sasa Police Station while the 50 cartons of smuggled cigarettes are in the warehouse of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) in Panabo City for safekeeping.
Paras said they would investigate further to determine the owner of the cigarettes.
