The 265 firemen who finished the fire recruit basic course (FRBC) training was the first batch to acquire the first emergency technician medical (EMT) course in the country.
“I’m happy to note that these 265 firemen not only graduated as FO1 of FRBC but were also able to acquire the EMT, all of them are emergency medical technicians,” Bureau of Fire Protection XI regional director, FSSupt. Fred Tajeras, said.
This batch is capable of responding to medical emergencies and give first aid before the Central 911 personnel arrive.
“(This is the)first time in the history of training that we incorporated medical services, plus they’re medical practitioners.” he said.
He also said that this batch was the first to acquire EMT since 1993 when they were already separated from the Philippine Constabulary- Integrated National Police (PCINP).
“It is only here in Davao, in this training that we have EMT as a course. This was possible also with the help and support of some of our doctors and of course, the director of the AMTI.” Trajeras added.
He added that these firemen who came from different regions, particularly from Region X, Region XI, and from Caraga were tasked to return to their respective regions to serve.
“As for Region XI, I see to it that most of them from the previous assignments will be reverted or returned back to their respective assignments,” he said.
Senator Christopher Lawrence Go also delivered a speech during the graduation rites last Sept. 13 at the University of Philippines-Mindanao Sports Complex in Barangay Mintal, Tugbok District.
“The Filipino people expect so much of you, I expect so much of you, and I know you will never fail this country,” Go said, as he extended his congratulations to the graduates.
