A FIRE engulfed the house of an 84-year-old woman in Teachers Village, Toril, around 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19.
According to a Davao City Police Office (DCPO), the house was owned by Anita Escabarte, a widow.
Escabarte’s grandson, who was in an adjacent room, noticed the fire and immediately sought help from their renters to rescue his grandmother from the burning house. After ensuring her safety, he called Central 911 for assistance.
Personnel from the Toril Police Station and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Toril arrived at the scene shortly after. The fire was declared under control around 7:30 p.m., with no casualties or injuries reported.
Fire Officer 1 Mars Cansancio of the Toril Fire Station said the cause of the fire remains undetermined for now. Meanwhile, the estimated damage was around P40,000.
