Fire causes P200-K in damage

A FIRE gutted 14 houses along Tahimik 2, Pag-asa Drive, Barangay Matina Crossing, on Tuesday at 5:01 p.m.

In an interview, Insp. Shaira Borja, the Bureau of Fire and Protection XI spokesperson, said 11 houses were totally damaged and three partially damaged. 

Firefighters along with fire volunteers responded to the area and put off the fire at 6:30 p.m.

Borja said the fire went to a second alarm however there were no persons injured or fatality during the incident. She added that 16 families were affected when the fire hit the said houses.

According to the fire investigators, the probable cause of the fire was an unattended lighted candle (ongoing investigation).

Report added that the estimated cost of the damage brought by the fire is P200,000.

Meanwhile, the families affected are sheltered at the Christ the King Chapel in Matina Crossing, according to the City Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Office.
