Man accused of being involved in rape-slay case dies after abduction, torture
A MAN who earlier feared for his life after being linked to the rape-slay of an architect in Calinan died after he was abducted, taped, and hand-tied by unknown perpetrators on Saturday, May 27.
The victim was identified by Major Catherine Dela Rey, spokesperson of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), as Dennis Roy Pansan, 23, a resident of Calinan District.
Pansan managed to escape and seek refuge at the Matina Pangi Barangay Hall, with tape around his head and hands still bound.
According to Major Noel Villahermosa, the Talomo Police Station commander, Punong Barangay Benjamin T. Badon called for police assistance around 6:30 a.m. on Saturday.
“According to the victim, he was abducted by several male persons from Calinan,” Villahermosa said. “He was handcuffed and wrapped with packaging tape and was mauled.”
The police officer said the victim jumped while on board the vehicle driven by the perpetrators.
The Talomo police took custody of Pansan, but he collapsed and suffered a seizure while being interviewed by investigators. He was given first aid by the station nurse and rushed to the Davao Adventist Hospital in Bangkal, Barangay Talomo,
Unfortunately, he died while being resuscitated by doctors.
According to Roldan Pansan, the older brother, the victim was abducted in Durian Village in Calinan. They had reported the incident on Saturday to the Calinan Police Station.
As of this writing, TIMES is still waiting for the response from the Special Investigation Task Group Bragas to confirm if the victim was indeed considered a person of interest in the killing of Vlanche Marie Bragas on May 17.
