- Comelec: ‘No national ID, No Vote’ claim disinformation
THE COMMISSION on Elections clarified that the alleged “no national ID, no vote” policy posted on a public page is false information.
In an advisory on Saturday, the Comelec stressed that the advisory did not originate from the office.
“The supposed ‘No National ID, No Vote’ public advisory is 𝗙𝗔𝗟𝗦𝗘 and 𝗗𝗜𝗗 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗢𝗥𝗜𝗚𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗘 from the Commission on Elections,” the agency posted on Facebook on May 3.
If, for instance, the voters’ identity cannot be verified through the Election Day Computerized Voters’ List (EDCVL) during the May 12 poll, they will be asked to present a valid ID, Comelec added.
“Help us stop the spread of false information. Always verify through official COMELEC sources,” it added.
Comelec launched the precinct finder on April 23, which serves as a guide to voters to find their polling places.
The precinct finder will require full name, birthdate, and registration place to verify voter status.
Voters who are unsatisfied with the search results may contact the Office of the Election Officer or email voterverifier@comelec.gov.ph for further verification.
