A Convicted robber who also sidelined as a drug pusher was killed by authorities in a joint operation conducted along Cabaguio Avenue Wednesday afternoon.
Major Jason Baria, the spokesperson of Police Regional Office XI, said identified the fatality as Gregorio Rafaela Lim Jr., 34, of New San Isidro in Buhangin.
The joint drug enforcement unit of Talomo and Sta. Ana police stations, in coordination with PDEA XI, conducted the buy-bust after received reports against Lim.
During the operation, an undercover police officer was able to buy a big sachet of shabu for P4,000 at 1:25 p.m.
Police said Lim suddenly pulled out a pistol from his leather sling bag when he was about to be arrested.
Lim shot the buyer but missed the target. This prompted the two other operatives to return fire, wounding Lim.
Immediately, police rushed Lim to the Southern Philippines Medical Center.
He died at 1:42 p.m. while undergoing treatment.
The Scene of the Crime Operatives team recovered one fired cartridge case of caliber 45, a loaded 1911 caliber 45 colt pistol chamber with six live bullets, a wallet, a cellphonea a leather sling bag containing a charger, a watch and two fired cartridge of 9 mm.
Moreover, recovered from the suspect’s possession at the SPMC were four sachets containing shabu with a estimated value of P8,500.
A black Nissan Sentra, bearing plate number LDC 759, reportedly used by Lim is now also in the custody of Talomo police for proper disposition.
Four victims of robbery cases appeared at the crime scene and positively identified the fatality as the same person who victimized them.
Upon verification, police regional director Brig. Gen. Marcelo Morales said Lim was convicted for robbery with intimidation of person, in criminal case no. 77,904-13, in a decision rendered by Judge Ridgway Tanjili of Regional Trial Court Branch 15. He had served the sentence.
Morales said there is also a pending warrant of arrest against Lim for a theft case issued by Judge Jeoffrey Manluyan of TRC Branch 3.
The regional director commended the operatives for their efficiency and good work.
“The relentless support of Barangay Intelligence Network in giving information regarding the illegal activities of the subject… will create a big factor because drug peddling activities will decrease,” he said.
He said the police will continue to penetrate every corner of the region and will spare no one in the campaign against illegal drugs
