EastMinCom welcomes new deputy commander

THE EASTERN Mindanao Command (EastMinCom) proudly welcomed its new Deputy Commander during a formal Assumption of Office Ceremony on Jan. 9.

The event was led by EastMinCom chief LtGen Luis Rex D. Bergante, who presided over the symbolic turnover of responsibilities to Commodore Dwight Steven M. Dulnoan PN.

Dulnoan was greeted with heartfelt warmth and enthusiasm by the command’s officers, enlisted personnel, and civilian human resources, reflecting EastMinCom’s steadfast commitment to fostering a united and mission-driven leadership team.

Dulnoan expressed gratitude for the warm welcome he received, highlighting the professionalism of the troops, including the EastMinCom medical team.

“I can see the level of professionalism, not only in our soldiers but also in all aspects of the Armed Forces, including the medical service. As the deputy commander, I would like to say this: we are not the alter ego of the commander. Instead, we stand behind the commander and follow anything the commander says, and that is what I intend to do throughout the year. I appreciate why the Eastern Mindanao Command is working perfectly. You stand and keep in step with our commander,” Dulnoan said.

Meanwhile, Bergante underscored that while adjustments in leadership roles may occur, the Command’s Mission and Vision remain steadfast and unwavering, serving as the cornerstone of EastMinCom’s operations and objectives.

“The strength of our unit does not solely lie in its leadership but in every individual who serves with dedication. To Commodore Dulnoan, embrace this transition with a renewed passion and drive. As you transition to your new post, we look forward to your new perspectives and innovative approaches. I expect you’ll also bring a wealth of knowledge valuable in our gradual shift to external defense operations,” Bergante said.

Before his current role, Dulnoan served in various key positions, such as commander of NAVSOU-8 under the Joint Special Operations Group (JSOG), commander of the Naval Special Operations Group, deputy commander for Fleet Operations at Naval Forces Western Mindanao, and Naval Operations Command where he was promoted as commodore, earning his first star.

A graduate of the Philippine Military Academy “Maalab” Class of 1993, Dulnoan brings a wealth of experience to his new role.
