EastMinCom welcomes Navy delegates, 21 repatriates from Corpat mission

LIEUTENANT General Luis Rex D. Bergante, the Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMinCom) chief, headed the arrival ceremony of the Philippine Navy delegates aboard the BRP Artemio Ricarte (PS37) along with 21 repatriates held at the Capt. Feranil Pier, Naval Station Felix Apolinario, Panacan on Nov. 22.

During the ceremony, Bergante commended the troops’ unwavering dedication, particularly Naval Task Force 71 (NTF71) led by Capt. Junjie Tabuada PN.

He lauded their efforts in representing the country, fostering stronger ties with their Indonesian counterparts, and ensuring the success of the Coordinated Patrol Philippines-Indonesia (Corpat Phil-Indo).

“This isn’t just another routine exercise we conduct every year; this is a testament to the power of partnership. This partnership is more crucial now than ever before. As the global landscape shifts and new challenges emerge, we must be prepared to face them together, especially when safeguarding our territory and shared maritime interests. By standing shoulder-to-shoulder with our Indonesian neighbors, we share knowledge, hone our force capabilities, and send a clear message: we are committed to a secure and stable Southeast Asian region,” Bergante said.

Additionally, Bergante welcomed the 21 repatriates brought home by the Philippine Navy delegates from Indonesia.

He expressed his heartfelt gratitude for their safe return, emphasizing the importance of their reintegration with their families and the nation’s commitment to supporting Filipino citizens in times of need.

Alam namin ang mga hirap na pinagdaanan ninyo at masaya kaming makatulong sa inyong lahat. Huwag kayong mahiyang lumapit kung mayroon kayong mga katanungan o pangagailangan. Narito kami para sa inyo, at handa kaming tumulong sa abot ng aming makakaya (We know the hardships you experienced and we are happy to have helped you. Don’t be afraid to approach us if you have questions or other needs. We are here for you and eager to help as much as we can),” he added.

Representatives from the Bureau of Quarantine, the Department of Immigration, the Department of Foreign Affairs, and DSWD FO XI were in attendance.

They efficiently processed the required documents and extended assistance, demonstrating strong collaboration that facilitated the safe return of the 21 Filipino repatriates to their families.⁩
