EastMinCom chief commends JTF Seahawk

EASTERN Mindanao Command chief Lt Gen Rex Luis Bergante lauder the Joint Task Force (JTF) Seahawk, through the patrol vessel Herminigildo Yurong (PG906) after successfully intercepting a significant large-scale smuggling operation in the waters of the Island Garden City of Samal on September 24.

A total of 32,600 reams of smuggled cigarettes, with an estimated market value of P 37,359,600 were seized during the operation. 

Eleven individuals involved in the transportation of the contraband were apprehended and immediately brought to the Sasa Police Station for further investigation and appropriate legal action. 

The JTF Seahawk ensured that all apprehended persons and seized goods were adequately accounted for and turned over to authorities for disposition.

EastMinCom chief LtGen Bergante lauded the JTF Seahawk for their unwavering dedication and vigilance in safeguarding the maritime borders.

“Their swift action has once again safeguarded our people and upheld the integrity of our borders. Let this operation serve as a reminder of our duty to remain steadfast in defending the interests of our country,” Bergante said. 

“This successful operation highlights JTF Seahawk’s continued commitment to securing the nation’s maritime borders and preventing illicit activities,” he said.

“The task force remains vigilant in upholding the law and protecting the country’s economic interests,” the EastMinCom chief further said.
