THE DEPARTMENT of Trade and Industry (DTI) XI has recognized 65 outstanding business champions across the Davao region during the Bagwis Award ceremony at the end of June.
This annual event highlights business operations that exemplify an unwavering commitment to ethical practices under the esteemed DTI Bagwis program.
The Bagwis Award, formerly the DTI-Certified Establishment (CE) program, celebrates business establishments that prioritize consumer rights, streamline consumer complaint resolutions, adhere strictly to fair trade laws, and maintain the highest ethical standards.
Each recipient proudly received a distinguished Bagwis Seal and Certificate of Recognition, prominently displayed at their establishments as a testament to their dedication to consumer welfare and ethical business excellence.
The Bagwis Award has three categories: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Bronze: Commends businesses equipped with a Consumer Welfare Desk (CWD) or equivalent, ensuring swift consumer issue resolution and compliance with Fair Trade Laws; Silver: Recognizes businesses engaged in proactive community involvement, in addition to meeting Bronze category criteria; and Gold: Honors businesses implementing robust Quality Management Systems for heightened product and service safety, alongside meeting criteria from the bronze and silver categories.
This year’s ceremony celebrated 19 Bronze, 14 Silver, and 32 Gold awardees, showcasing diverse businesses committed to delivering exceptional consumer service and upholding ethical standards.
Acting regional director Romeo L. Castañaga emphasized the significance of the awards, stating, “The Bagwis Awards highlight DTI XI’s dedication to fostering ethical business practices and consumer protection. These businesses are trailblazers in their sectors, setting benchmarks for excellence and integrity.”
The Bagwis Award ceremony, a highlight of the region’s business calendar, underscores DTI’s commitment to promoting responsible business conduct throughout the year.
DTI XI has already recognized 470 Bagwis awardees since it started in 2016, reinforcing its role in driving positive change in business practices across the region.
