More than 900,000 families will be receiving the emergency subsidy from the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) of the Department of Social Welfare (DSWD).
DSWD XI regional director Grace Subong, in a radio interview with the Davao City Disaster Radio on Monday, said they are finalizing the list of recipient families the distribution of the subsidy will begin this week.
There are a total of 953,521 families in the region who will receive P6,000 from the national government, stressing that this financial subsidy is intended for each family and not individuals.
Subong also said that the Pantawid Pamilyang Pililpino Program (4Ps) recipient will also be automatically receiving the cash assistance.
“Of the 953,000, we have a total of 267,974 Pantawid (beneficiaries) in the region,” Subong said, adding that there are 685,547 non-4Ps beneficiaries.
There are a total of 298,043 families target recipients in Davao City who belong to the informal sector (indigent), Subong said.
Davao de Oro has 71,238 identified recipients; Davao del Norte with 115,881 families; Davao del Sur, 97,095 families; Davao Occidental with 38,946; and Davao Oriental with 64,344 recipient families. The breakdown of the figures is based on the Philippine Statistics Authority and Department of Finance assessment.
Subong said the P6,000 subsidy is based on the minimum wage rate in the region.
“(The) announcement was that each family will receive around P5,000 to P8,000. It is dependent on the minimum wage. Here in Davao region we have a minimum daily wage of P396.
Subong said this emergency subsidy has been programmed for a period of two months.
“That is good for April and May. If it will be assessed that the individual is a qualified beneficiary based on the final list, the person will receive P6,000 twice,” she said.
Subong clarified, however, that the emergency subsidy is intended to for low-income households and those who are in “subsistence economy” or the workforce for the informal economy.
