THE DEPARTMENT of Social Welfare and Development XI (DSWD) continues to address concerns regarding the reported misconduct of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries.

Margie Cabido, 4Ps regional division chief, detailed their grievance process as their office receives reports of cash card pawning and gambling of 4Ps beneficiaries in the Davao Region.

“For the first offense, we will issue a warning letter and strike an agreement with the beneficiary,” Cabido says. “For the second and third offense, we will implement a 2-month suspension and delisting, respectively.”

A reinstatement ban shall also be imposed on delisted beneficiaries.

As of June 2024, 70 households have been suspended while 24 have been delisted from the program.

The DSWD continuously tightens its partnership with local government units through ordinances intended to mitigate misconduct.

“These ordinances mainly target pawnbrokers and mediators instead of beneficiaries to quash manipulation,” Cabido said.

Due to LGU intervention, there has been a notable decrease in the number of pawning cases in the municipalities of Kapalong and Padada, and Tagum City.

DSWD continues to call on citizens to report any forms of misconduct through their hotline (082) 227-1964.
