DSWD XI clarifies ECT for Davao de Oro equivalent to 15 days of work

AN OFFICIAL from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) XI clarified the Davao de Oro recipients will receive the ECT equivalent for 15 days.

Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) is the new program of DSWD aiming to bridge the gap between the response phase to the recovery and rehabilitation phase of communities affected by the shear line and trough of the low-pressure area.

Kris Sam Torralba, Disaster Response Management System section chief, said the ECT amount differs from every local government unit (LGU), correcting the statement earlier released that said every family would receive P9,960 each.

Beneficiaries of ECT in Davao de Oro will receive P4,980 per family equivalent to 15 days of work, unlike the provinces of Davao Del Norte and Davao Oriental, which cover 30 days of work, with a total of P9,960 per family.

The cash assistance for Davao de Oro is equivalent to 75% of the current minimum wage rate (P332 daily)  in the region for 15 days.

DSWD XI said the LGU recommended the said setup for Davao de Oro to cover more beneficiaries in the province.

The department added that there are numerous affected victims in the said province in a short period, hence, fewer days for ECT coverage.

The ECT payout for two municipalities in Davao de Oro, specifically Maco and Monkayo, started on Monday, April 22.

For the first tranche, there are 11,255 beneficiaries from Maco, while 11,377 recipients from Monkayo.
