Driver escapes after pick-up truck overturns at Davao City Coastal Road

A 31-YEAR-OLD driver escaped after his pick-up truck overturned near Talomo area along the Davao City Coastal Road at 1:39 a.m. early Monday morning, Jan. 6.

Arnel Padecio Morre, a resident of Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur, was driving the Toyota Hilux owned by Monolithic Construction and Concrete Products when he lost control of the vehicle.

According to the initial police investigation, Morre was heading toward Bago Aplaya when his vehicle veered left, crossed onto the opposite lane, and struck a solar light post. The impact caused the pick-up truck to overturn.

Despite the severity of the crash, Morre was reportedly unharmed and left the scene before authorities arrived. The vehicle sustained significant damage, as did the solar light post and a portion of the roadside railing.

The Davao City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) is assessing the damage to the light post and railing. Meanwhile, the pickup truck has been impounded by the police for safekeeping and further investigation.
