THE LOCAL government here opened on Wednesday, October 20, its drive-thru anti-COVID vaccination site inside People’s Park as part of another initiative to serve persons with special needs, especially individuals with mobility issues.

The drive-thru site is open from Monday to Saturday and it will prioritize senior citizens, people with special needs, and persons with disabilities.

Dr. Michelle Schlosser, the spokesperson of the Davao City COVID-19 Task Force, said during the Bida Bakunado Program over the Davao City Disaster Radio on Friday that the site has been set up after they saw the need to provide options for persons with limited mobility.

Nakit-an man gud sa atong task force ang need for it, kay ubay-ubay maglisud ang katigulangan ug persons with disabilities nga maglisud sila’g avail sa vaccination due to limitation sa movement (It was noted by the Task Force that some senior citizens and persons with disabilities are having difficulty due to the limitation of their movement),” Schlosser said.

She added that through this program, the said group will be relieved of the burden of transferring from one station to another to be vaccinated.

“As of now, atong pinakatumong ang kadtong maglisud og pila-pila, maglisud og balhin from one corner to another kay naa man gud siyay’ registration, kuhaan ka og vital signs, kadtong maglisud ana ilabi na atong katigulangan and atong persons with disabilities (Our main goal is to cater those who are having difficulty queueing and transferring from one corner to another, especially senior citizens and persons with disabilities, because of the procedural steps from registration, taking their vital signs),” she said.

Unvaccinated family members of the senior citizens or PWDs in the vehicles may also take the opportunity to avail of the vaccine. Schlosser underscored no limitation as to the brand of the anti-COVID vaccine.

“It is open Monday to Saturday, it is for any vehicle, tricycle, jeep na pwede ninyo masulod ang inyong katigulangan and persons with disabilities (It is open Monday to Saturday, it is for any vehicle, tricycle, jeepney which could carry your senior citizens and persons with disabilities),” Schlosser said.

The drive-thru already vaccinated 31 individuals, including senior citizens since it opened.
