THE DEPARTMENT of Science and Technology (DOST) launched its Regional Science, Technology and Innovation Week 2024 (RSTW) to highlight the critical role of Science, Technology, and Innovation.
DOST XI regional director Dr. Anthony C. Sales, PFT, CESO III said that the event aims to spotlight the importance of science, technology, and innovation as tools to address economic, social, and environmental problems in the communities that DOST serves in Davao Region.
The three types of problems that DOST wants to address are areas of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.
Sales added that RSTW also serves as a platform to discuss solutions and the available technologies of DOST to address the problems.
According to DOST secretary Dr. Renato U. Solidum Jr., the 2024 RSTW aims to celebrate what DOST, the universities, and DOST’s partners have accomplished, and more importantly to share information and exchange ideas with other regions.

The 2024 RSTW key activities include the launching of DOST programs, Technology Pitching, Innovations for Agriculture, Showcase of Local Innovations and Emerging Technologies, and others.
