THE DEPARTMENT of Labor and Employment XI successfully implemented Labor Day activities to celebrate the 121st Labor Day on Monday.

The event highlighted simultaneous job fairs, awarding of government assistance, and honoring Filipino workers.

Among the 1,239 total applicants who registered online and on-site, 213 jobseekers were hired on the spot across different areas in the Davao Region, including SM City Davao, Ecoland, Davao City, and Provincial Capitol of Davao Oriental, Mati City.

Meanwhile, the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) beneficiaries received a total of P15,905,909 while P55,925,084 was allocated to the Tulong Panghanapbuhay Para sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program.

The department also carried out the Kadiwa ng Pangulo Para sa Manggagawa activity to recognize Filipino workers.

Seventy beneficiaries of the Department of Agriculture, Department of Trade and Industry, National Food Authority, and the 22 DILP beneficiaries sold various local products, accumulating P89,000 in sales.

“As we move forward, we must continue to prioritize the welfare of our workers. We must work together to provide them with the support they need to cope with the challenges they face. This includes access to affordable housing, accessible consumer goods, and stable employment opportunities that offer decent wages and benefits,” DOLE XI regional director Atty. Randolf C. Pensoy said.
