DOLE warns biz establishments of fake labor inspectors

THE DEPARTMENT of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Davao warned business establishments of fake labor inspectors collecting fees.

DOLE XI posted the advisory on Facebook on Friday following an incident reporting an individual falsely claiming to be a DOLE Labor Inspector.

The person in question was allegedly conducting unauthorized “establishment inspections” and soliciting money, with micro enterprises being the primary targets.

DOLE XI emphasized that no payments or fees are collected during legitimate labor inspections.

Official DOLE labor inspectors are always in proper DOLE uniforms, wearing official identification cards, and carry a duly issued Authority to Inspect.

“We urge the public, especially business owners, to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest DOLE office,” DOLE stressed.

On April 17, a certain Jhoana Leslie posted in Davao Scammers group a photo of a person who approached the store and posed as inspector.

“Another scammer alert!!!! This person pretends to be an inspector of DOLE. Mangayo siya ug kwarta. May gani kabalo na gyud mi aning ingon na mga klase na mga tawo. Beware lang ta mga micro businesses ang tirada,” the post reads.
