Dog pound swamped by high number of calls – city vet

THE DAVAO City  Veterinarian’s Office continues to promote the prevention of stray dogs and loose pets in public places.

During the iSpeak Media Forum on April 11, CVO head Dr. Corazon Sepulveda said they continue to enforce City Ordinance No. 1457 despite the high number of calls they receive reporting of stray dogs.

Na overwhelm na kami sa mga requests actually since we are only using two vehicles at this time. Pero na pupuntahan naman po ang mga nagrerequest, mga barangay, mga private subdivisions,” she said.

She said private subdivisions make up the bulk of the calls the city pound receives.

She also reminded dog owners to be considerate of other people by not allowing their pets to defecate in public places.

Ang aming pinapromote po sa ngayon ay kung kayo ay you know you let your dog jog with you, you should bring at least a plastic bag with you para lang if ever they defecate, you pick it up and throw it in the garbage can,” she said.

City Ordinance No. 1457  is an ordinance prohibiting the loosening or letting stray dogs or cattle in Davao City. The local government also penalizes the owner if the pet is caught defecating on public areas and private properties.
