Mark Christian Marollano, DOE Electric Power Industry Management Bureau supervising science research specialist, said the activation of the Energy Task Force Election (ETFE) will ensure smooth conduct before, during, and after the electoral process.
“All sectors from generation, transmission, distribution are on board and are closely monitoring all activities to ensure hindi magkakaproblema this coming election,” Marollano told reporters during the “Power 101 series: Energy Security in Times of La Niña and El Niño” at Seda Hotel BGC, Taguig, on April 21.
He added that election day is a holiday, so they expect a lower demand due to the suspension of schools, government, and other private establishments.
The official stressed that energy stability is crucial seven days before, during, and seven days after the elections.
“Same with the transmission and distribution sector, if may mga repair and maintenance, i-postpone muna nila,” he added.
Meanwhile, the distribution sector is required to check critical infrastructures that the Commission on Elections needs, especially the counting of ballots.
“In coordination with Comelec, the distribution utilities will also check and inspect facilities that have no issue in terms of connection, transformer, panel board, to ensure polling centers will be operating 24/7,” he said.
The official stressed no power interruption during the elections is crucial to ensure smooth and credible polls.
