DLPC to suspend scheduled power interruptions during BSKE 2023

THE DAVAO Light and Power Company (DLPC) will suspend the scheduled power interruptions to avoid disrupting the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) on Oct. 30.

Fermin Edillon, DLPC reputation enhancement officer, said the scheduled power interruption, conducted every after midnight, will be suspended for the upcoming BSKE.

“Ang scheduled interruption, which is ginabuhat siya during kadlawon for upgrading and maintenance work but panahon sa election, gi-cancel namo ang mga scheduled power interruption,” Edillon said.

Although the BSKE will be accomplished manually and no machines will be used, he said the voting precincts will also use lights and electric fans.

Edillon also stressed they will immediately address concerns when unscheduled power interruptions occur, also known as emergency power outages, caused by line and/or equipment failure, accidents, adverse weather conditions, or power supply shortages.

“Beyond our control gyud na siya. Pero dili ta mag-worry ana because naa pud ta’y enough personnel na pwede mu-attend ana sa iyaha. But it will take time for us to restore that,”  he added.

He also said they already coordinated with the Department of Education XI to trim and cut tree branches that might disrupt power connections near schools where the voting would take place.
