THE DEPARTMENT of Education Region XI is optimistic about a smooth opening of classes on Aug. 29.

This, after the DepEd regional office led the Balik Eskwela 2023 Inter-Agency Convergence Meeting attended by the Police, City Transport and Traffic Management Office, Department of Health XI, Land Transportation Office XI, Department of Social and Welfare Development XI, Department of Interior and Local Government XI, and other government agencies.

DepEd XI spokesperson Jenielito Atillo said the meeting’s objective was to plan and consolidate the steps of each agency and local government office to avoid disruptions during the opening of classes.

Each agency has a vital role to play to avoid chaos, particularly on the week when public school resumes their classes.

On Wednesday, Davao City Police Office spokesperson Captain Hazel Tuazon revealed that they will install assistance desks and patrols in densely populated public schools and selected private schools.

“So that if there are concerns or any incidents during the opening, the students and parents will go to the assistance desk,” Tuazon said. “Every opening of the classes, the city police office will detail personnel to be deployed to schools.”
