Department of Migrant Workers XI on well-ordered migration

THE DEPARTMENT of Migrant Workers XI (DMW) continues to facilitate employment, ensuring documentation safety and orderly migration.

In the DMW’s Migrant Workers Processing Division (MWPsD) Region XI data, a total of 12,669 E-Registration Tickets have been resolved in the first half of 2024 compared to 21,709 in 2023 and 17,540 in 2022.

During the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas on Sept. 3, DMW XI regional director Atty. Angela Librado-Trinidad said they make sure the data reflects how clients are documented in the system.

Furthermore, the Balik Manggagawa (BM) processing recorded 3,204 (845 male, 2,359 female) in the first half of 2024. Last 2022, the total was 10,028 and increased to 10,647 in 2023.

Balik Manggagawa refers to returning OFWs vacationing in the Philippines who will return to work abroad with their employer or company at the same job but in a different position.

Also, the DMW also registered reduced numbers for Name Hire Processing (189), Government to Government Hiring (175), and Job Fair Monitoring (31).

Librado-Trinidad added that most of the OFWs in Region XI are from Davao del Sur with 6,482 in the first half of 2024, followed by Davao del Norte with 2,405, Davao de Oro with 986, and Davao Oriental with 774.

She also said household service workers were among the top five occupations as of June 2024 with 1,084 individuals with about 70% of them going to the UAE.
