Deal eyed to install, maintain 31 street posts in Chinatown

The Davao City Chinatown Development Council (DCCDC) and the local government will enter into a memorandum of agreement (MOA) for the maintenance of the Chinatown Street Project.

Part of the proposed MOA is the maintenance of the street posts covering the entire length of Ramon Magsaysay Avenue and the Monteverde Avenue.

The DCCDC secured sponsorship from Banco de Oro-Unibank for 20 street posts to cover the entire length of Ramon Magsaysay, and Metrobank for 11 street posts along Monteverde Avenue.

On the part of the city, it has to shoulder the maintenance of the 31 street posts located at the Chinatown district.

Earlier this year, the committee on tourism and beautification has been hammering an ordinance requiring all establishments in the Chinatown to have a Chinese-themed façade. The Chinatown area is the only tourism developmental zone in the central downtown area.

The Davao Chinatown covers 44 hectares spanning four barangays in the downtown district. With four archways, the area is bordered by Sta. Ana Avenue, Monteverde Avenue, Ramon Magsaysay Street and Leon Garcia Street.
