DCWD warns of possible rise in water meter theft during the Christmas season

THE DAVAO City Water District (DCWD) warned its customers about the possible increase in water meter theft this Christmas season.

DCWD spokesperson JC Duhaylungsod encouraged its clients to report these incidents promptly to prevent water interruption and replace the stolen meters immediately.

During the Davao Peace and Security press briefing last week, Duhaylungsod said the public can message the DCWD official Facebook page or hotline. They must give their account number, contact number, and an affidavit of loss stating that the water meter has been stolen.

She said the cost of a new meter can be paid in staggered payments over five years, at a rate of P50 per month.

Furthermore, the DCWD revealed that the number of water meter thefts in 2024 decreased to only 10 cases due to their cooperation with the Davao City Police Office (DCPO). The utility firm also reminded its customers to be vigilant against illegal connections to prevent such crimes.
