DCPO: Zero incidents during 39th Kadayawan sa Dabaw 2024

The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) announced on Monday that zero incidents were recorded during the 39th Kadayawan sa Dabaw Festival 2024.

The DCPO, Acting City Director Col. Hansel Marantan, highlighted the successful and peaceful execution of the annual festival.

The Kadayawan sa Dabaw Festival, renowned for celebrating the rich culture and traditions of the city’s indigenous people, was notably incident-free, attributed to meticulous planning and the implementation of comprehensive security measures.

The Davao City security cluster, comprising the DCPO, Task Force Davao, other law enforcement agencies, volunteer groups, and various organizations, were strategically deployed throughout the city.

Marantan stated that they ensured the safety and smooth flow of the event by enforcing regulations, providing assistance, and fostering a culture of respect and harmony.

He added that the community’s cooperation and active participation played a crucial role in maintaining the peaceful atmosphere.

The local government’s proactive engagement with the community ahead of the festival, through information campaigns, stakeholder meetings, and public safety reminders, further cultivated a sense of shared responsibility.

Ultimately, the Kadayawan sa Dabaw Festival 2024 was not only a showcase of cultural heritage but also a testament to the unity and resilience of the Davao community.

The festival’s success, marked by the absence of any incidents, underscored the effectiveness of the collaboration between the community, local government, and security forces.

Marantan concluded, “It demonstrated that when a community comes together with a shared purpose, even large and complex events can be conducted smoothly and safely.”
