THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) has filed a charge against a businessman from Placer Poblacion, Surigao del Norte for the illegal fireworks display on New Year’s Eve in Phase 1, Block 4, NHA Bangkal.
According to DCPO spokesperson Captain Hazel Caballero Tuazon, the charges were formally filed against Remegio or alias Botyok on Jan. 7, 2025, which included violations of City Ordinance No. 060-02 Series of 2002 and Republic Act 7183, “An Act Regulating the Sale, Manufacture, Distribution and Use of Firecrackers and Other Pyrotechnic Devices.”
The case was filed with the Office of the City Prosecutor in Davao City under NPS Numbers XI-02-INV-25-A-0040 and 0041.
Evidence supporting the charges includes witness testimonies from two individuals who saw Botyok igniting fireworks in the riprap area along the riverbank.
Police also recovered fragments of fireworks at the scene, corroborating the witnesses’ accounts and the findings of the Talomo Police Station’s investigation.
