DCPO cracks down on crime, arrests 81 in week-long operation

THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) apprehended 81 individuals during a series of anti-criminality operations across the city from Oct. 6 to 12. 

Acting city director Col. Hansel Marantan said they conducted 22 anti-illegal drug operations, resulting in the arrest of 28 drug suspects. Authorities confiscated 30.46 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P207,134.80, and 29.97 grams of marijuana worth approximately P3,596.40.

Crackdown on illegal gambling and wanted persons

Efforts to curb illegal gambling activities led to the arrest of 15 individuals and the confiscation of P984 in bet money.  Police filed six cases concerning these offenses.

Also, the DCPO conducted 35 operations, leading to the arrest of 35 individuals, including 11 most wanted persons.

Firearms confiscated, Oplan Katok Implemented

Meanwhile, three individuals were arrested during operations targeting loose firearms, resulting in the confiscation of three unlicensed guns.  One operation was conducted under “Oplan Katok,” a program that encourages the voluntary surrender of unregistered firearms.

Marantan said these successful operations underscored the DCPO’s dedication to upholding the rule of law and respecting human rights while adhering to police operational procedures.

“Peace and order remain our top priority for the safety and security of all Davaoeños,” said Marantan.  “We will continue to intensify our efforts to combat all forms of criminal activity and bring offenders to justice.”
