DAVRAA athletes report various health conditions: DepEd XI

By Mara Cervantes/UM Intern

The Department of Education (DepEd) XI revealed that some of the delegates competing in the ongoing Davao Region Athletic Association (DAVRAA) had been experiencing “predominant medical conditions”.

During the DAVRAA presser on April 3, Reynante Solitario, DepEd XI division superintendent, said as of Apr. 2, the regional offices recorded cases of colds (30), wounds and coughs (29), headaches (25), abdominal pain and flu (11), toothache, and fever (9).

However, Solitario said they have a medical team on standby who promptly addressed and treated the student-athletes.

“They are monitored by our nurses because we have medical teams also assigned in their different billeting quarters,” he said.

He added that one case of dengue fever was recorded before the event. However, the affected individual is currently confined in the Southern Philippines Medical Center.

The DepEd XI, together with the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, local government unit, and other medical teams, are working closely to ensure the safety and welfare of the athletes.
