Davao vlogger arrested in buy-bust operation

A 28-year-old vlogger from Davao was arrested by authorities in a buy-bust operation conducted at Surf Shack Restobar, Bypass Ma-a, around 10:45 p.m. on Saturday, August 16.

According to a report from the National Bureau of Investigation XI, the suspect is identified as Christ Briand Oncada,single.

The report indicates that items seized included a sachet of dried leaves believed to be marijuana, weighing approximately five grams (buy-bust item) worth PHP 2,000; a 30 ml bottle of suspected marijuana oil (buy-bust item); and a 2 ml cartridge of suspected marijuana oil (buy-bust item).

Additional items seized were 38 self-sealing sachets of dried leaves believed to be marijuana, totaling around 35 grams (possession) worth PHP 4,375; cling wrap containing dried leaves believed to be marijuana, totaling around 30 grams worth PHP 3,750; one bottle of marijuana oil (30 ml) worth PHP 1,500; and 15 bottles labeled “Love and Respect by Christ Briand” containing suspected marijuana oil.

In an interview on Saturday morning, Albao stated that the total value of the alleged marijuana ranges from PHP 8,000 to PHP 10,000, while the alleged marijuana oil is valued at PHP 10,000.

When asked where Briand obtained the illegal drugs, Albao said, “Marijuana is usually sourced from Luzon. The marijuana oil could have been produced by him as it is used in vapes.”

Albao further revealed that the suspect is considered a high-value target due to his status as a vlogger and influencer. He also mentioned that the suspect comes from a prominent family: “Yes, he is the well-known child of a pawnshop owner in Davao allegedly.”

As of this writing, the suspect is in the custody of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) XI and will be subject to a drug test.

Albao stated that the suspect will face charges for violations of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
