THE DAVAO Light and Power Company Inc. will conduct an on-site registration for the enhanced Lifeline Rate Subsidy at the SM Lanang Premier on Sept. 18 to encourage qualified customers to avail of its new guidelines.
The initiative is in partnership with the Department of Energy (DOE), Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and SM Lanang.
The power subsidy is under the provided Republic Act 11552 or an Act Extending and Enhancing the Implementation of the Lifeline Rate, Amending the Purpose Section 73 of RA 1396, or the Electric Power Industry Reform Act (EPIRA).
During the AFP-PNP forum on Sept. 13, Fermin Edillon, DLPC reputation enhancement department head ,said the initiative was established because only a few customers availed of the opportunity, despite the continuous information drive of the company.
“Unfortunately, dili pa kaayo taas ang nag-avail sa atong Lifeline Rate Subsidy. Nanghinayang man gud mi nga naa’y opportunity na makatabang, mao to nga instead maghulat mi sa amoang mga customers, kami nalang ang muadto sa ilaha,” Edillon said.
Among the 40,000 qualified customer targets, Edillon reported that only over 300 customers have availed of the said subsidy.
Qualified customers such as the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) and non-4ps beneficiaries or those living below the poverty threshold established by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), will be assisted by the DSWD personnel assigned in each of their barangay, for them to easily coordinate with the registration.
The Lifeline Rate provides a discount on electricity bills of eligible customers whose monthly electricity consumption is 100 kilowatt-hour or below, based on the discount level set by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) and is applied to the generation, transmission, distribution, supply, metering, and systems loss charges only.
